Chrysler future product plans leaked

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee goes on sale in May 2010
By Mark Atkinson, MSN Autos

Things have been awfully quiet at Chrysler lately in terms of getting new products to the public. Besides showing a lone Fiat 500 at the recent Canadian International Auto Show, the automaker has talked a lot about its upcoming products, but we've gotten very little in the way of specifics.

Now it appears that Allpar.com has uncovered some information about the coming year's worth of new and revised products, and there are definitely some surprises.

In terms of new vehicles, the heavy-duty Ram chassis cabs will start on sale in April, followed by the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and its 280-hp 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 a month later. The rumoured Dodge Magnum crossover, the replacements for the mid-sized Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring, and the latest generation of Brampton, ON-built rear-wheel-drive Charger, Challenger and 300 LX cars rolls in November.

The Fiat 500 will make it to North America, but only by mid-December, so those wanting a new small Chrysler will have to wait for a while.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep line-up will see heavy revisions and changes to make them more competitive with the rest of the world. It will be at least a year before any of Fiat’s excellent Multi-Air engine technology flows into the North American product portfolio, but it will eventually make it to the Pentastar V6 and versions of the current four-cylinder World Engine.
