By Jake Lingeman, AutoWeek

The 2013 Dodge Dart GT will join Chrysler's stand at the Detroit auto show next week. For now, it will be the top trim in the Dart lineup, with a sticker price of $21,790 including destination. Dodge says it is still investigating the possibility of an R/T model for the Dart. Canadian pricing has not been announced.

The GT setup adds a sport suspension with frequency-sensing damping shocks. It will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission — an automatic is optional — and Chrysler's 2.4-liter four-cylinder Tigershark is the only engine available, producing 184 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque.

The GT is based on the Dart Limited package. Standard equipment includes 18-inch aluminum wheels, a more aggressive front fascia with black accents, dual exhaust with chrome tips, LED taillights and a unique interior treatment with a heated steering wheel. Additionally, the Dart GT will get projector fog lights, power heated mirrors, 8.4-inch touchscreen display, backup camera and a host of other upgrades, which you can see below.

Optional equipment consists of HID headlights, black aluminum wheels, power sunroof, premium sound system and the Technology group, which includes push-button start, keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers and blind-spot indicators with rear cross-path detection.

The Dart GT will go on sale in the second quarter of 2013.
