This past week, the Interweb was all a twitter over the supposed leaked patent drawings of a new version of the SLS AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s unofficial “supercar”. Unlike the existing two-door, two-seat hardtop or convertible, this SLS had four seats and four doors: a pair of top-hinged “gullwing” openings up front, and two “suicide” rear-hinged at the back for, ostensibly, to make it easier for rear passengers to enter and exit graciously.

Bugatti Veyron crafted in porcelain, an insurance adjuster's dream

Porcelain

By Jake Lingeman, AutoWeek

We've seen plastic in cars, steel, extruded aluminum, carbon fiber and plenty of other materials. But a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in porcelain--that's a new one.

Bugatti joined with German automotive-art manufacturer Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin to create the wildly styled ride. The company unveiled the car on June 30 at the KPM workshops in Berlin. Not surprisingly, Bugatti claims this is a first.

Barrett-mclaren

By Dale Jewett, AutoWeek

Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. CEO Craig Jackson has the distinction of being the highest bidder at his firm's recent sale in Las Vegas--paying $770,000, including the buyer's premium, for a 2008 Bugatti Veyron when the original winning bidder refused to pay.

Overall, the three-day auction, held Sept. 23-25, recorded sales of nearly $23 million, Barrett-Jackson said on Monday.

After the Bugatti Veyron, the highest bid at the auction was $412,500 for a 2009 Mercedes McLaren SLR roadster (pictured).

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport smashes land speed record

There's fast, then there's Bugatti Super Sport fast. (Photo: Bugatti)

Most mainstream car companies announce new products on the world stage at international auto shows. Other brands – usually posh, exotic ones – do it more discreetly, inviting wealthy customers and celebrities to lavish champagne and caviar parties. But for the announcement of its new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport model, Bugatti trumped them all: It broke the land speed record for production cars.

Following two passes at the Ehra-Lessien track near Wolfsburg, Germany on the fourth of July, with Guinness Book of Records officials present, the Veyron Super Sport officially averaged 431.17 km/h besting the former record holder, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT by nearly 20 km/h.

Bugatti Galibier sedan revealed!

By Justin Couture

1 Here are the first images and details on what very well could be Bugatti’s next model. It’s called the Galibier 16 C Concept, and it’s one of several different concept vehicles that are being considered for production.

In terms of styling, it’s tough to imagine what a modern four-door Bugatti might look like. Thankfully, the end results are pleasing, combining historical cues with modern touches. For instance, the large horseshoe Bugatti grille has been nicely incorporated into nose, and features a clamshell hood and large LED headlamps. This layout is said to be inspired by the Type 57, while the car’s torpedo-like profile is akin to the Type 35. While the front half of the vehicle is distinctively Bugatti, I can’t help but notice a bit of Porsche Panamera in the car’s tail.

Blue-blooded Bugatti: Veyron Sang Bleu revealed

By Justin Couture

1 What do Suzuki, Audi and Bugatti have in common? Yes, they all make cars, but more importantly, each brand is turning 100 this year. In addition to throwing a massive celebration (it isn’t every day you turn 100) each brand has unveiled a new vehicle. For Audi, it was the A5 Sportback. For Suzuki, it was the Kizashi. But what about Bugatti?

While the French supercar manufacturer unveiled the Grand Sport drop-top version of the Veyron this year, it’s whipped up a special edition creation specifically for its centenary. Following in the footsteps of the ultra-rare Veyron Sang Noir is the Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu, which roughly translated into English means “Blue Blood”.
